Hoiio is a service which turns your outgoing calls into incoming ones; so that you pay lesser. You can check out their website here.
There are also some youtube videos to illustrate their service. Pretty interesting and funny.
This one gives you an insight on how much you can save with Hoiio. In chinese though.
It seems like a good service. It's pre-paid; whereby you have to pay using ibanking, visa/mastercard or paypal first before you can use your talk credits. Calls are charged at 3.8c a min, as compared to 16c a min from telcos.
There are also GPRS data charges per call; about 2-3kb, which amounts to about 1c - 2c per call. (Based on Singtel charges of 0.53c per kb of data)
The only drawback for me is that the other party will receive an incoming call from Hoiio's number. Hence it would be hard for him to keep track on who the caller was. Also, people may not pick up the call from an unknown number; and will call Hoiio's number back in the case of a missed call.
Hence maybe this service is good, only if the other party is aware that you are using Hoiio to call.

SPIC held a Professional Blogging with Wordpress training session on 14th January. The aim was to expose students to an alternative blogging platform, as well as to teach them to unleash the power of wordpress.
The event started off with wordpress installation with Fantastico which simplifies the installation process with servers that have cpanel installed.
Next up, there was a run through of the new Wordpress 2.7 "Coltrane" interface which is one of the most user-friendly wordpress interface yet.
Posting, pages, media, links, themes, widgets, plugins, adminstration basics were taught too. Pages allows users to add pages like "about" or "contact" to wordpress, independent of posts. Media allows users to add picture, video and audio onto the server and into posts.
Links simplifies the blogroll process , no html/php editing needed. Themes enhances the look anf feel of the blog and plugins enhances user experiences by adding tons of new features.
Overall, it was an eye-opening session which exposed participants to the latest in Wordpress blogging technology.
Vocal Andriods or Vocaloid for short is a japanese singing sensation which is very hot over at japan right now. Like Genki Rockets, Vocaloids are synthetic voices which can really sing, but this time, end-users can enter their own lyrics and melody. The new update coming out on the 30th of January will enable bilingual voice support.

A few day ago, I posted something on Zii - Stem Cell Computing. Today at CES, Creative has unveil Zii. It is not any sound blaster card. It is one of the most important products of Creative.
Zii, or Zen 2nd generation in short, is a multi-function processor, and has 10GFlops of processing power.. It has 48 programmable processor element. All the programmable processor element can be switch off when not in use and activate back when in used, saving lots of power in the prcoessing.
