Interesting, the future for hand-held devices may evolve with this. I think they timed it just nice with the global recession.

can the SP inforcomm club tell me what exactly the zii is in layman's term? And how does it differ from Sony's Cell?

It's a processing unit which can be used in MP3s, PVPs, PSP-like devices, except the cores can be programmed on-demand, not fixed like what we have now. It's not a x86/x64 structure now, so it cannot be used for desktop comupters yet.

what's a x86/x64 structure? If its not x86/x64, then what is it?

Anyway, x86 naming is due to the first few computer. IBM 8086. Since our 32bit operating still use the same architecture, so it is name x86.

For x64, it is due to the newer 64bit technology on the cpu.
