SPIC Meeting, 9th July

Dear SPIC members,

SPIC will be having a meeting session on July 9th, 5:00PM. Very important as many updates on club events and projects will be provided. We will meet at the SPIC clubroom above FC5. Please reply by 7th July if you will be coming.

TagIT! IT Magazine

In addition, SPIC is intending to start a technology e-magazine called TagIT tentatively. It will be distributed to SP students online, and you are invited to contribute IT-related articles for the magazine.
Don't worry. We don't expect perfect English. There will be an editor for that.

We just need:

Something which is simple to understand
Useful for readers

Article length is not fixed. Not too wordy; more illustrations (or perhaps screenshots) is what we are going for.

We need articles in the following categories. We shall discuss more about this in the meeting.

Interesting Websites (eg. last.fm allows you to listen to popular music online)
MMORPG tips, eg. where and how to get good items fast/easily
Interesting freewares. (eg. Dropbox allows you to sync your documents over different computers)
Photography tips/ how-tos
Interesting iPhone/iPod touch apps or make fun of useless apps
Videography tips/how-tos
Blogging tips/ how-tos

We are currently revamping our site. In the meantime, if you would like to join SPIC, simply fill up this form.

We will be having our Freshman Orientation this Thursday, 21st May. Please meet at 5.30pm at the meeting room above Foodcourt 5. The event will last until 8pm. See you there!

CSSC PC Maintenance

Venue: CSSC
Date: 26th March, Thursday
Time: 2.30pm at SAA
Remarks: We will be meeting Miss Jesslyn and help her load the new desktops to her van. She will then send us to CSSC and proceed on with the installation.
The club will be retaining 3 old desktops for further courses and such. (DIY, troubleshooting, etc)

SPIC Updates

SPIC is working on a few major projects at the moment. Some of which are: SP Multimedia Amazing Race, WhyILoveSP Blogging Competition and a tech E-magazine. We have big plans for this year, so stay tuned for more updates.

The first two activity sites are 80% up and running, so you can check that out in the meantime. (Links are at the top, together with home, about us etc)

IBM: Simple Solutions in Tough Times Workshop

There will be an IBM talk on the 19th March in SP. Participants will be exposed to technologies which SMEs can use to cut costs, increase business efficiency and strengthen business capabilities through IT innovations. Please email us if you would like to attend. Good food, goodie bags and a chance to win a Wii are some of the perks.

After some trial and error, it seems that our official email, which is hosted on google, seems to have problems receiving emails from hotmail users. It seems to be a common problem for our own gmail accounts as well.

Hence, for hotmail users, please email . We will be checking both emails regulary.
